Goodreads Summary:
I am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.

Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

My Rating:🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My Review:

I did a reread of the entire series cause I honestly missed all of it. I honestly loved this book so much. The world building was really cool, and it was such a fun experience. The excitement, the wonder, the life the characters brought to the story. It’s all just so amazing. It’s like high-fantasy X-Men, lol.

The book is set in Kenettra, where, after a blood fever sweeps their lands, killing a lot of people. The survivors of the blood fever are left with strange markings on their body, and even more strange capabilities. They are seen as abominations to society and are called malfettos. Malfettos who rebel against the government and fight for their rights are called The Young Elites.

Adelina is not your typical protagonist. But honestly I love her so much. I understood her motivations, what fueled her to do the things she did. The way she developed her power in this book, her capabilities were absolutely phenomenal.

Enzo is bold, ambition, and lovable (well, in my opinion he is). He’s also not scared to go after the people who wronged the ones he love. He’s also extremely hot (ha, pun intended).

All the other characters are beautifully written. Raffaele, Violetta, hell even Teren in his own dark, twisted way. I really found him appealing in this book even though he was evil af.

“I pledge myself to the Rose Society until the end of my days, to use my eyes to see all that happens, my tongue to woo other to our side, my ears to hear every secret, my hands to crush my enemies. I will do everything in my power to destroy all who stand in my way.”

Overall it’s a beautiful book and keeps you hopeful, guessing, and wanting to grab the next book right away to see what happens next. The good news is, y’all don’t have to wait for another year. The sequels The Rose Society and The Midnight Star have been released so grab a copy of this trilogy now. My reviews for the next books will be posted soon as well so stay tuned!
