Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer that runs from Friday to Thursday. Each week there will be a book related question to be answered. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog

In regards of Banned Books Week (www.bannedbooksweek.org/), what are your favourite books that has been banned or challenged?
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie
This book was absolutely amazing. It had such really dark themes, but it was written so well. It made me laugh and cry and really feel for the main character.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This was actually another really dark book, with mentions of depression and suicide, drugs, death, and even child molestation. Despite all of this though, this ranks as one of my favourite books. It’s beautifully written and the quote “We accept the love we think we deserve” really stuck with me even after.
The Color Purple, by Alice Walker
I picked this book up after seeing the Tony Awards last year, and seeing that the musical has been nominated for numerous awards. The book took a bit of adjusting to, especially with the writing style. The story however was really beautiful, and really opens peoples’ eyes to the reality of what women of color were experiencing during that time.
This isn’t banned but… it was sort of the basis for The Hunger Games which was the one that got banned.
I’m talking about Battle Royale. It was cruel, brutal, and suspenseful! An entire class of Japanese students who thought they were going on a class field trip wake up in a strange island. They soon find out that they have been the class chosen for the BR Act, and that they must fight each other to death to survive.
So those are my favourite banned books! How about you guys? Have you read any of these? What are your favourites? Let me know down below!
